Introduction:

Modern diagnostic skin evaluation tools such as dermoscopy and mole mapping with total body photography (TBP) have proven very useful in the diagnosis of suspicious cutaneous lesions and early recognition of malignant melanoma (MM). The combination of these two technologies can result in even more accurate assessment of the lesions viewed.

Preface:

A product requiring the capture of high-resolution images from up to 128 camera modules. Each stand carries a number of camera boards mounted at vertical intervals. Each camera board contains a pair of image sensors (i.e., camera modules) for capturing high-resolution images, and a means for illuminating the scanned object. The image sensors deliver their images in a digital format. Each stand also contains a concentrator board for collating the captured data from the camera boards belonging to the stand and transferring the data to a computer for processing, display and storage. Additional hardware blocks, such as off-the-shelf Ethernet switches or additional purpose-designed elements, are incorporated in order to provide a complete solution for transferring the image data from the image sensors to the computer.

Technologies:

MPEG4/H.264 compression, RS232, USB and Ethernet peripheral support, Actel SOC Smart Fusion, FLASH memory, DDR3 memory, 4 channels Video decoder, 4 channels Audio line-in.

Software:

Ethernet driver, Video decoder driver, Video encoder driver, GPIO/Alternate functions configuration, USB host support for mass storage devices (Disk on a key), USB Client support – supporting active sync, UART Support, Driver supporting GPIO configuration and access with high level API.
